With the reality of a nuclear threat more and more present, especially because of recent US politics, Maki, the granddaughter of a Hiroshima bombing survivor, strives to keep the memory of the horror alive so that history is not repeated. She struggles, on a daily basis, with the stigma felt by the descendants of irradiated people.Evelyn, originally from the Marshall Islands and exiled in Honolulu, is the adopted daughter of a woman irradiated by a US thermonuclear bomb. Not only has she lost her home, she lives with the nightmare of genetic malformations and cancers at the forefront of her mind. Her goal is to obtain justice from the United States; that the suffering of her people be recognized. ; These young women also introduce us to the film's themes: the rewriting of history for the purposes of political opportunism, the reality of new nuclear arms, planetary contamination, the anti-missile shield program, and peace movements.

Independent Media In A Time Of War
Part scathing critique, part call to action, Independent Media In A Time Of War is a hard-hitting new documentary by the Hudson Mohawk Independent Media Center. This film is composed of a speech given by Amy Goodman, host of Democracy Now! illustrated by clips of mainstream media juxtaposed with rare footage from independent reporters in Iraq. The documentary argues that dialogue is vital to a healthy democracy.
Independent media has a crucial responsibility to go to where the silence is, says Amy Goodman, to represent the diverse voices of people engaged in dissent. She makes a compelling argument that the commercial news media have failed to represent the true face of war.

Death of Democracy in America
In Wisconsin, State Senate Republicans used what they claim is a loophole in the law to officially cut from state employees nearly all collective bargaining rights. Thom explains how this latest move is part of a larger plan to destroy democracy in America. Then the Koch brothers have employed a PR company to act as a sock puppet for them on websites, including Wikipedia. Plus, Thom talks with consumer advocate and author, Erin Brockovich about the lack of clean drinking water in this country.3/11/2011http://rt.com/programs/big-picture/death-democracy-america-wisconsin/
